CAHPO has been established in 2005 as a local CSO by a group of volunteers’ expertise and professionally experienced Afghans in response to the increasing needs in humanitarian and development sectors for delivery of quality services in Afghanistan. Subsequently, CAHPO has gradually upgraded to the stage of NGO with proper registration in the Ministry of Economy, the NGO department, and expanded its operation to wider geographical areas. It was a time of dynamic development for Afghanistan throughout professional institutions. Our staunch conviction, continuing to this day, was that people living in areas affected by different means of disasters should be involved in decision-making for positive change in the development process of the country. We passionately believe in finding peaceful alternatives to war and violence, and we were convinced that there would be initiatives like ours springing up all over the world to support people-based initiatives, through establishing such an organization of CAHPO to focus people-based–needs due to poverty. Our working model has always been premised on the assumption that we would work in partnership with local organizations; offering our professional experiences and contacts, adding value where we could for the benefit of affected communities.
To reduce poverty through the provision of educational and capacity-building initiatives on the community level, CAHPO mainly focuses on “educating” boys and girls who are the future of the country. CAHPO believes that girls’ education has a significant impact on poverty reduction in the long term, where there is no equal or appropriate attention to them due to diver reasons. CAHPO uses different means to include women and girls in developmental and humanitarian initiatives for bringing up their capability and role.
